OBJECTIVES
To reduce energy consumption and costs at three schools: an 86,000-square-foot elementary school, a 125,000-square-foot middle school and a 97,678-square-foot high school.
SOLUTIONS
This client chose ECS Midwest to provide it with a major electrical, HVAC and lighting system overhaul. After conducting preliminary feasibility studies, ECS Midwest guaranteed the client more than $564,000 in savings over 10 years.
Using its own experts, ECS Midwest self-performed every aspect of the job, including a complete upgrade of the schools’ electrical power distribution systems that significantly improved performance and reliability. ECS Midwest crews also converted the buildings from electric to gas heat, and installed a four-pipe HVAC system to better service the heating and cooling needs of specific parts of the facility. To further improve comfort and efficiency, the company replaced the schools’ old lighting systems with more efficient technologies, maximizing overall savings. Finally, the company installed energy management systems in each school, increasing the client’s ability to reduce energy consumption and costs.
Additional information: ECS Midwest guaranteed that over 10 years the Cloverdale Community School Corporation would achieve average energy savings of at least $56,488 per year. Two years into the project, the upgrades had saved an average of $84,467 per year.
