To improve energy efficiency and building comfort by replacing the junior-senior high school’s air conditioning, lighting and facility control systems, and re-commissioning the elementary school.
The extensive expertise and resources of ECS Midwest enabled it to save this client more than $1.8 million over 10 years through a complex project, much of which had to be completed while students were out on summer break.
At the 127,519-square-foot junior-senior high school, ECS Midwest designed, ordered, installed and commissioned a new rooftop unit in plenty of time to ensure air conditioning for the resumption of classes in the fall. This involved replacing the school’s outdated rooftop equipment with high-efficiency units and exchanging the old damper flow control boxes for new variable air volume devices. The company also installed new exhaust fans.
In addition, ECS Midwest replaced the school’s old pneumatic, electronic overlay control system with a new, state-of-the-art TAC Andover facility management system. And to further improve energy efficiency, ECS Midwest technicians installed new lighting with T8 lamps and electronic ballasts.
At the elementary school, too, ECS Midwest helped reduce energy consumption and costs. There, ECS Midwest upgraded the HVAC system by optimizing its use of outside air. Then, the company improved overall performance by re-commissioning the existing control system.
