Value Delivered
Bud gives clients in the Indianapolis area greater control over their building systems, enabling more productive, cost-effective, and energy-efficient operation. To achieve this, he evaluates their current systems’ performance and helps identify ways to improve it. He then works with the construction team to develop estimates and create proposals, including the scope of work and the standards (types of devices, control sequences, etc.) that need to be met to ensure that all system components can be integrated for maximum effectiveness. Following project completion, Bud oversees commissioning to be sure that the system is providing an optimum building environment, reducing energy consumption and costs, and delivering the ongoing value needed for complete client satisfaction.
Expertise
Bud has been in the mechanical contracting business for more than 28 years, all of them with Shambaugh, Havel, and ECS. During that time, he has served as branch manager, service manager, and operations manager, working on a wide array of projects including temperature controls installations, mechanical retrofits, and maintenance contracting. His expertise extends from technical sales and project management to HVAC evaluation and building commissioning.
A 1980 graduate of Bell Labs with a degree in electronics, Bud is currently a member of the Havel Standards Committee on Temperature Controls, where he helps evaluate the potential impact of new products, advanced installation techniques, and recent revisions to the Indiana Energy Code. In addition, he works with the committee to find innovative ways in which these developments can help ECS meet customers’ changing needs more effectively. He is also a member of the Central Indiana Chapter of ASHRAE.
The Personal Side
Bud and his wife have two daughters. In addition to his family, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and winemaking. As a professional pyrotechnician, he also assists with commercial fireworks displays.
